Clinton to Whistler – August 8

Up early and on our way to Whistler.   We have heard so much about how beautiful it is that we were anxious to get there and have plenty of time to walk around.  The road getting there was quite a challenge.  We went up and down huge grades, around numerous tight curves and boy was I glad that Bernie said “let me drive this.”  Even he was swearing about the road.  We stopped to have a breather at Duffey Lake.  At the East end of the lake is a massive log jam and still water was getting through to the river.

We knew we were in for trouble when we saw the clouds moving in before we got to Whistler.  Got un-hitched between rain drops and then headed into town.  By the time we got there it was really raining and we couldn’t see a thing of the mountain.  There was a huge mountain bike event going on and every other person we saw was pushing a bike and most of them were covered in mud.  They take the gondola to the top of the mountain and ride down.  Not something we care to do.   We walked around the village in the rain and then took the car to check out some of the beautiful accommodations and gorgeous homes.  We will have to come back here again when we can see something.  We went back to the rig for dinner as we are planning on an early start to Vancouver in the morning.  There is a huge music festival going on in Squamish and we wanted to beat the traffic into the city.

Rain drops were falling on our heads
This darling little girl spotted a puddle and off she went - right into it.
