Marathon, White River, Ontario and Back in the USA – September 20-21

September 20

On our way to Marathon we encountered different scenery – something we hadn’t seen before.  It’s called Canadian Cap and it is beautiful rock with lots of color.  The photo was taken from the moving motor home, so not so great.  No place to turn off to take better picture.  Note the patch on the left side of the window.   We’ve been using duct tape to keep the wind from coming through our window.  Thanks to the rock we encountered right after we entered Canada in May.

This one only one of the road construction sites we have seen on this trip.  They usually come up when I’m driving, but not this time.  Hurrah!!!

Tonight in Marathon will be our last night in Canada.  We are sorry to leave Canada, but ready to get back into the good old USA.  Bernie found a city campground that sounded wonderful on the web and we weren’t disappointed.  Penn Lake in Marathon.  We had a site right on the lake.  Gorgeous!!!

September 21
I had read about White River, Ontario being the home town of Winnie the Pooh and so we decided to plan to have breakfast there.  Everything is Pooh in White River and a really fun place to see.

A bit down the road we got our first glimpse of Lake Superior.  It looks just like the ocean and with a bit of wind we even saw waves.  Very beautiful.

Thought all of this information was very interesting.  Had no idea the lake was this large.

Our next stop was the bridge to Saute Ste. Marie and the US.  Of course, Bernie was nervous about going through customs, so I drove this bit.  Not a problem and worrying for nothing.
